A delegation of Friday met Maharashtra DGP Datta Padsalgikar here and sought action against the policemen in Solapur, who allegedly assaulted party workers for showing black flags to Modi's convoy earlier this week.

Talking to reporters after the meeting, Sawant said the delegation demanded that the "guilty" police officers be punished for the use of force on the peaceful protest.

"The police action is a blot on the democracy," he said adding that the delegation members met the DGP sporting black bands.

"The DGP expressed regret over the incident and said Special IGP will probe the incident. He also assured action after the report is submitted," Sawant said.
