Bhopal: Sugarcane farmers of Narsingpur under banner of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti marched to gherao Vidhan Sabha on Thursday with their demands. Heavy police force was deployed at Habibganj Railway station to check manage the farmers who arrived by Amarkantak Express.
The farmers march was stopped at Board Office Square. The farmers then staged a protest at Board Office to press their three demands. Vinay Parihar, general secretary of Kisan Sangharsh Samiti, said, “ Congress has promised in Vachan-Patra for bonus and better payment after making ganna policy. Farmers came to Bhopal to gherao Vidhan Sabha but we were prevented at Board Office Square.”
The demands The three demands of the agitating farmers are minimum support price of Rs 350 and a bonus of Rs 50, trolleys should be de-loaded within 12 hours, additional payment for the recovery of sugar cane and farmers should be paid within 14 days.
One fulfilled Kisan Sangharsh Samiti coordinator Ramakant Dhakar said, “We were taken to Krishi Board and Agriculture minister Sachin Yadav came to meet us and one of our demands has been fulfilled as government has agreed to release the payment in 14 days. The minister also assured us that after recovery test government will decide on extra payment for recovery as Narsingpur sugarcane is best quality in the country.”
