Vietnam and Cambodia join hands to boost tourism

For Cambodia, tourism has brought a significant profit to the country, which contributes more than 10 percent to the national income. The Cambodian Ministry of Tourism said that from January to September 2018, Cambodia welcomed 4.3 million visitors, marking an increase of 11.8 percent compared with the same period last year.

 

Meanwhile, Vietnamese social income from tourism has increased by 25 percent per year, contributing to improved changes in urban and rural areas.

 

Vietnam’s tourism industry has witnessed impressive growth in 2018 with the arrival of more than 15 million foreign tourists. Total revenue from tourist services is expected to reach more than VND 600 trillion (about $26.3 billion).

 

Along with fast tourism development, Vietnam and Cambodia have adopted strategies, combining internal forces with international links for promoting roles and benefits of a smoke-free industry.

 

Vietnam-Cambodia tourism cooperation has made important achievements, bringing important socio-economic benefits for each country.

 

The number of Cambodian tourists to Vietnam and vice versa sees a continuous increase, due to road travel. In addition, the two countries are interested to cooperate with each other for promoting national tourism, tourism products, along with creating positive conditions for expanding tourism exchanges and development.
