Letter to the Editor: It pays to be a friend of the TTA in Tiverton

As recently reported in the Sakonnet Times, the new Tiverton town solicitor will receive what amounts to a 60 percent raise over his predecessor.

This agreement was negotiated by the Tiverton Taxpayers Association majority now in control of the Town Council.

Many of these same individuals were previous members of the Budget Committee. In that capacity this same group was not at all inclined to give any town employee a 2 percent raise and frequently expressed the opinion that town employees were in general overpaid for their services.

I guess it pays to be a trusted associate and friend of the TTA.
