CHANDIGARH: A gym instructor lodged a police complaint on Thursday, alleging cybercrooks fraudulently withdrew Rs 20,000 from his account.
Krishan Kumar Bisht, a resident of Nayagaon and instructor at Lake Club gym, said in his police complaint, “While surfing the internet on December 26, my wife came across an offer of four ladies suits for Rs 1,050 at a site — Sareecomboz-.com. After she placed an order, a courier came to our house to deliver the parcel on January 2. She took the parcel after giving him Rs 1,050. But on opening it, she found four sarees instead of suits.” Bisht called up at the company’s customer care number. “The official who received the call assured to refund the money. He asked me to give the last six digits of my ATM card. When I did so, I received a One Time Password (OTP) on my cellphone. He asked me to reveal the OTP. As I refused, he told me to download ‘Anydesk’ application on my cellphone. Minutes after I downloaded the app on January 8, I received a message that Rs 20,000 had been debited from my account,” he added.
Frauds withdrew cash twice: Victim
The frauds again tried to withdraw cash from his account. “When I reported it, they stopped taking my calls,” he said. Bisht then blocked his SBI account and approached cyber cell.
