Man dies after being stabbed in 'targeted' attack during haircut in Sydney's west
A 20-year-old man who was stabbed while getting his hair cut in Sydney's west has died in hospital, while a teenager remains in police custody over the incident.
Emergency services were called to the hair salon on Mimosa Road, Bossley Park, at 12.38pm on Friday to reports a man had been stabbed by an "unknown offender".
A spokesman for NSW Ambulance said four crews attended the scene and found the man in cardiac arrest on the pavement outside the salon when they arrived.
He had a single stab wound to the right side of his chest, the spokesman said.
Paramedics resuscitated him at the scene before he was taken to Liverpool Hospital in a critical condition, where he underwent emergency surgery.
The man died in hospital a few hours later.
A spokesman for NSW Police confirmed the man was having his hair cut when the alleged offender entered the salon and stabbed him in what is being treated as a "targeted" attack.
It's understood he staggered outside before collapsing on the street.
Witnesses told Nine News the alleged attacker arrived on a motorbike and kept his helmet on as he carried out the brazen attack.
Police established a crime scene at the salon and launched an investigation.
Following inquiries, an arrest was made at a home on Friday afternoon.
At around 5pm, officers attended a residence on Tallowood Crescent, Bossley Park, where they arrested an 18-year-old man in relation to the stabbing and took him to Fairfield Police Station.
The teenager is currently assisting police with their inquiries. No charges have yet been laid.
