Fortnite gamer pleads not guilty to hitting pregnant partner
The Fortnite gamer who inadvertently live-streamed himself allegedly hitting his pregnant partner while playing the online video game has pleaded not guilty to a charge of common assault.
Oran Park man Luke Munday, 26, entered the plea through his lawyer, Steven Mercael, before magistrate Ian Cheetham at Camden Local Court on Thursday.
Police charged Mr Munday after he received worldwide attention for allegedly attacking his partner after she asked him to stop playing the addictive video game, in which he goes by the alias MrDeadMoth.
A video that police say will be used in evidence in their case against Mr Munday shows the couple arguing loudly, then him allegedly hitting her.
"You f---ing woman basher," the woman screamed after he allegedly hit her.
"Don't hit me in the face, don't you dare touch my face," she screamed, then addressed the global audience watching Mr Munday play Fortnite on Twitch.
"You hear that, all you people out there? He just hit me in the face," the woman said in the video.
Following the alleged assault on December 9, police imposed an apprehended violence order on Mr Munday that dictated he could not go within 100 metres of his partner’s workplace, where she lives, or the family home.
Thursday's proceeding's have been stood down for further discussions about the order.
More to come.
