JHANSI: A 22-year-old woman from Orai on Wednesday lodged a case of rape and cheating against the sub-divisional magistrate (SDM) of Chitrakoot, Uttar Pradesh.
The complainant has alleged that the officer, Saujannya Kumar Vikas, had promised marriage to her and raped her during the period when he was posted in Jalaun as SDM in 2017. Meanwhile, Kumar denied the allegations, saying: “I have no idea of this. I can say something only after I get details of the case.”
The woman, currently studying in Jhansi, said she had met Vikas in Orai, the headquarters of Jalaun district. She has also alleged that she was held captive in a hotel in Jhansi and tortured, and that the accused clicked intimate photographs of her.
Station officer of Nawabad (Jalaun) AK Singh said, “We have lodged an FIR against Chitrakoot SDM Saujannya Kumar Vikas for rape, cheating, insult and criminal intimidation, and under Section 67 of IT Act (punishment for publishing or transmitting obscene material). The matter is about seven months old. We have sent the complainant for medical examination. Further investigation will follow.”
SSP Jhansi OP Singh said he had ordered the FIR after preliminary inquiry.
