PATNA: The Pataliputra University (PPU) will soon set up a library at a cost of Rs 15 crore to cater to the needs of academics, researchers and students. A proposal in this regard was approved at a syndicate meeting of the academic council and other bodies held under the chairmanship of vice-chancellor (VC) Gulab Chand Ram Jaiswal at the university headquarters on Wednesday.
Several other decisions for streamlining academic activities of PPU and its constituent colleges were taken at the meeting. The syndicate also gave its nod to the proposal of starting interviews of the shortlisted guest faculty members by January-end.
“The syndicate approved another proposal to allow candidates, who have cleared pre-PhD tests from other universities, to get themselves registered with PPU for pursuing PhD. However, they will be have to submit a no objection certificate from their parent university,” the VC said, adding the government’s decision to hand over 8.05 acres of land to PPU for development of a new building and PG departments was also welcomed.
Besides, proposals for implementation of biometric attendance system in colleges, establishment of a pay fixation committee, a promotion cell and a purchasing committee of the university were also approved.
