Five members of a private school management have been booked for allegedly stealing 10 boxes containing packets of a health drink (500 gm each) worth ₹87,000, which had been donated by an NGO to the students.

The accused — Ashley Vardon, Lauren Ann Ramji, Winston Corneille, Marlene Jhan and Alan Jones — were booked by the Shivajinagar police for criminal breach of trust on Wednesday. No arrests have been made.

The school, located on Colonel Hill Road in Shivajinagar, is 108 years old and has around 950 students, said the police. The honorary secretary of the school, Paramjeet Singh, alerted the police to the fraud.

According to police, the misappropriation dates back to August 2018. Singh, in his complaint, alleged that members of the school management stole 10 boxes; each box had 30 packets.

When the management came to know of the misappropriation, a general body meeting was called on August 25, 2018 and a no-confidence motion was passed against the members who were found guilty. The management barred the five members for a period of 10 years and filed a complaint with the police. “We have summoned the accused for questioning to ascertain what they did with the boxes,” said the police.
