India vs Australia ODI stats: 10 must-know numbers of Indian players on Australian soil

India vs Australia ODI stats: 10 must-know numbers of Indian players on Australian soil

After scripting history by winning the first-ever Test series on Australian soil, India is set to face Aussies in three-match ODI series. The first ODI will be played on January 12, 2018 followed by second and third ODI on January 15 and 18 respectively.

The Indian performance on Australian soil has not been great in the past, but considering the might Kohli-led players has shown in the series so far, there are great chances of Indian team bagging the ODI series as well. As the battleground for ODI series takes a countdown with the first match on January 12, 2018, we look at some of the stats of ODIs between India and Australia. Here are some of the records of Indian players against Australia on latter’s soil.

India vs Australia (W-11 L-35 NR-2)

India don’t have a great record in Australia for victories in ODIs. India has won only 11 matches out of 48 it played on Australian soil, losing 35 of them. 2 matches ended with no results.

Most Runs – Rohit Sharma (805)
Hitman Rohit Sharma holds the record for most number of runs by an Indian player on Australian soil in ODIs. Rohit has scored 805 runs in 16 ODIs so far, with a spectacular strike rate of 90.44. He has also smashed 3 hundreds and 2 fifties.

Highest score – Rohit Sharma (171)

Rohit also holds the record for the highest score on Australian soil. Rohit smashed 171 runs in January, 2016 at Perth.

Most wickets – Irfan Pathan (22)

Although Irfan Pathan has vanished from Indian national team, his name still comes to the front when we talk about most number of ODI wickets on Australian soil. Irfan has taken 22 wickets in 14 matches, highest by any other Indian player on Australian soil. Irfan has an economy of 6.45 along with an average of 30.6.

Best bowling figures – Ajit Agarkar (6/42)

Ajit Agarkar took 6 wickets for 42 runs in an ODI at Melbourne, which still remains the best bowling figures for an Indian bowler till date.

Most dismissals – MS Dhoni (25)

Captain cool MS Dhoni holds the record of most number of dismissals on Australian soil. MS Dhoni has 25 dismissals against Aussies in 18 ODI matches. These include 21 catches and 4 stumpings.

Most dismissals in a match – MS Dhoni (5)

MS Dhoni also accounts for most dismissals in a single ODI match with 4 catches and 1 stumping. MS made the record of 5 dismissals at Melbourne in February, 2008.

Highest partnership – VVS Laxman & Yuvraj Singh (213)

VVS Laxman and Yuvraj Singh smashed 213 runs together in 2004 which still remains as the highest partnership for India in Australia. Laxman and Yuvraj made the partnership for the 4th wicket at Sydney on January 22, 2004.

Highest team score (331/4)

India made 331/4 against Australia in 2016, which was the highest score of Indian team in Australia. India made this huge score at Sydney and also bagged the victory in the match.

Lowest team score (63/10)

India once scored 63 runs way back in 1981, which remains the lowest total for Indian in Australian. Interestingly, the lowest score of India also came at Sydney like that of the highest score.
