The employees under the banner of National Coordination Committee of Electricity Employees and Engineers’ (NCCOEEE), an umbrella organisation comprising 1.5 million power employees working in energy sector, continued their boycott for the second consecutive day and held protest meetings outside their offices.
The central and state government would be responsible for the strike by power sector employees, said co-convener of NCCOEEE, Shailendra Dubey. He said electricity tariff will go above Rs 10 per unit after the enactment of the Electricity (Amendment) Bill 2018.The biggest sufferer will be farmers and public, he added. “The cross subsidy will be reduced to zero in a period of three years,” he said. The supply to common consumers and agriculture sector is subsidized at the cost of industrial and commercial consumers.
