What the notch was to 2018, punch-hole displays are poised to be the same in 2019. After Honor and Samsung unveiled their new display designs that have a hole on the top corner of the panel housing the front camera, HMD Global’s Nokia seems to have joined the league as well. @OnLeaks, in partnershsip with 91mobiles has revealed detailed 5K renders of a Nokia phone that has a punch-hole display. It’s not certain what phone this is, but the report claimed this is seemingly the upcoming Nokia 8.1 Plus.
The Nokia phone also seems to retain the 3.5mm headphone jack, even after major OEMs including OnePlus ditched the legacy port. The phone will also be powered by a USB-C port, as seen from the photo.
The leakster also revealed the phone from the back. The renders show a dual camera unit along with an LED flash. housed in a module that has a rather large bump. The dual camera unit, the report claims, will be Zeiss branded. Despite in-display fingerprint sensors becoming a thing, this Nokia phone will reportedly retain the physical fingerprint sensor that will be flushed to the rear glass panel. The images reveal the Android One branding on the bottom indicating that Nokia is likely to continue its successful partnership with Google offering pure, stock Android with regular updates.
