Ex-Uruguay striker Abreu ready to play for 28th club

Former "El Loco" insisted he still has something to offer as a as he prepares to extend his professional career to a 26th season.

The 42-year-old will represent Rio Branco in Brazil's Espirito Santo championship after agreeing to a six-month contract in December, reports

It is Abreu's 28th club since he made his senior debut with Uruguay's Defensor Sporting in 1994.

"When I was younger I ran eight kilometres per game and now I run seven. One kilometre more or one kilometre less isn't going to make a difference," the former Deportivo La Coruna forward said.

"What will make a difference is the pass into the box that allows me send the ball into the back of the net."
