Kate Hudson says 'my struggle is not in weight loss' in response to WW backlash ... after collab with brand to drop pregnancy weight

Kate Hudson has something to say to critics of her recent collaboration with WW.

The new mom, who is just three months postpartum, sat down with Today on Thursday and addressed the haters.

In December, it was announced that the 39-year-old was tapped by the healthy living brand formerly known as Weight Watchers as their latest ambassador.

'My struggle is not in weight loss,' the star admitted in a conversation with Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie.

Adding: 'Mine is about staying healthy, trying to stay focused and balanced.'

On social media, Kate revealed that she was looking to lose the 25lbs that she had gained while pregnant with her newborn daughter Rani Rose.

During her appearance on Today the daughter of Goldie Hawn glowed with her blonde bob hair cut in a long purple and red ruffled bohemian dress and a pair of contrasting snakeskin boots. Model Karlie Kloss was also on set.

After Kate's collaboration with the brand was revealed via a FaceTime call with one of the company's owners and most famous ambassadors, Oprah, the Almost Famous actress was met with massive hate on social media.

'Why the hell is Kate Hudson doing WW?!!' one Facebook user asked. 'Come ON people!! And don't give me any of that "wellness" bulls**t. This is a weight loss program and Hudson is in it for the cash.'

'Losing weight after having a child is different than losing weight due to a long span of overeating,' another woman added, noting that Kate will lose the baby weight whether or not she is following the points program.

Backlash: People were upset about Kate's new gig claiming she wasn't the type of person who struggled with her size and therefore was not relatable as an ambassador

In addition, people were angered about the fact that not only was the actress naturally thin, but she was also the owner of fitness clothing company, Fabletics.

When Savannah Guthrie brought up the controversy, Kate retorted that was 'exactly why I'm here.'

'That's part of the myth busting,' Hudson says.

Last year, Weight Watchers has rebranded itself as WW and now uses the tagline 'Wellness That Works.'

'One of the things about this re-imagining of WW is it's not just about weight, it's about wellness,' she said. 'For me, it's all about support. You always need a support system whether it be a trainer, a best friend, an app.'

Ironically, the supportive community that WW was known for was part of the group upset about Kate's appointment as a spokesperson.

But the star was steadfast in her commitment.

'Everyone's looking to how do you get motivated, how do you stay motivated? That's the number one thing people always ask me,' she explained.

Despite the controversy, Kate said that so far 'it's a fun thing to be a part of' and that 'this whole experience has been really amazing.'

'It's a community for people to understand their health better, holistically.'

Kate continued:  'It's about, "Where do we go to practice mindfulness? Where do we go to understand the foods that we're putting into our body?

'"Where do we go when we fall off the wagon and we need to get up again? Where is it that I can do any kind of diet"

'WW is not a diet,' she added towing the company line, 'it's really a lifestyle.'
