Rachel Medeiros won two individual events, breaking her own 500 freestyle school record in the process, for Bishop Connoly in a 78-61 girls' swimming and diving loss at Martha's Vineyard on Wednesday.
Medeiros posted first place finishes in the 200-yard freestyle (2:09.61) and the 500 freestyle (5:41.59.
Christy Bogan placed first in the 50 freestyle (28.93) and took second place in the 100 backstroke (1:18.33). Leah Medeiros also had a strong second place in the 100 breaststroke (1:34.90). The team of Leah Medeiros, Christy Bogan, Rachel Medeiros, and Madison Amaral finished second place in both the 200 medley relay and the 200 freestyle relay.
BOYS
Martha's Vineyard 88, Bishop Connolly 47: At Martha's Vineyard, Connolly's Austin Medeiros took first place in the 50 freestyle (26.63) and second place in the 200 freestyle (2:34.18).
Also for the Cougars, Luke Jubinville had a first place finish in the 500 freestyle (6:40.75) and earned second place in the 100 butterfly (1:13.18,) breaking his own school record in that event by five seconds.
Gabriel Harstad finished in a close second place in a hotly contested 100 breaststroke (1:24.74.) The team of Jubinville, Noah Benevides, Harstad, and Medeiros took first place in the 200 medley relay (2:11.28) and second place in the 200 freestyle relay (1:55.24) Both of these times broke school records.
