2 arrested for job scam
Jan 11, 2019, 00:32 ISTTirupur: The city police have arrested two people, who cheated several people in Tirupur and Madurai by promising them government jobs. One of them posed as the state chief secretary, Girija Vaidyanathan, to dupe the job seekers, police sources said.
Police identified them as AL Arun of Othakadai in Madurai and V Rajeshwaran of Vavipalayam in Tirupur. They are on the lookout for Karthikeyan.
About 10 people from Tirupur and Madurai had lodged complaint against Arun and Karthikeyan after they received up to Rs 8lakh from them by promising jobs in various government departments. The duo failed to do so and refused to return the money.
The complainants said that Karthikeyan claimed that he was working as one of 13 personal assistants to the chief secretary. Arun had told them that he was working in the secretariat. A woman posing as Girija used to call the job seekers, asking them to give money to the duo.
15 Velamapalayam police have registered a case against Arun, Karthikeyan and Rajeshwaran.
Though Rajeshwaran also initially a complainant, police found that he could have colluded with the other two accused in the fraud.
