Bulandshahr violence: BJP youth wing leader and prime accused Shikhar Agarwal arrested

MEERUT: Shikhar Agarwal, BJP Youth wing leader and one of the prime accused in Bulandshahr Siyana violence that resulted in the murder of inspector Subodh Kumar Singh and a youth Sumit Kumar, was arrested from Hapur in the early hours of Thursday.
According to SP city, Bulandshahr, Atul Kumar Srivastava, "Agarwal was arrested by Bulandshahr police from Hapur in the early hours of Thursday."
Agarwal was last of the prime accused in Siyana violence and was allegedly involved in instigating the crowd that went on rampage killing a cop and a youth apart from setting afire Chingrawati police post and a number of vehicles parked there including police jeep carrying the slain police officer.
It took police more than a month to nab Agarwal even though the latter had been uploading his videos on social media claiming innocence in addition to giving interviews on TV channels.
According to police sources, "In all, 36 violence accused have been arrested now including the prime ones - Yogesh Raj, Bajrang Dal leader, Prashant Natt who had alledgedly shot dead the cop and Kalua who had attacked Subodh with an axe before being shot dead. These accused are besides seven arrested in the cow slaughter that led to violence.
Police have also recovered the axe but the inspector Subodh Singh’s pistol which was used to kill him is yet to be recovered. On Wednesday, police got remand of Natt for 12 hours and ADG Meerut zone Prashant Kumar had said, “With most of the accused in jail, now police’priority is to find the weapon used to kill the cop.”
