High court records statement via video conferencing

JAIPUR: In a first, High Court recorded the statement of a respondent through video conferencing. The court was hearing a marital dispute. While the husband lives in the US, his estranged wife and child lives in Jaipur.
The division bench of Justice M N Bhandari and Justice B L Sharma, while hearing the case, agreed to record the statement of her husband through video conferencing.
O P Mishra, counsel appeared for the husband said the petitioner's husband living in the US agreed to come on video conference as he could not make it to Jaipur for the hearing.
The judges interacted with him via video conferencing. He said her husband expressed his willingness to keep his wife and child with him, but the petitioner refused.
The court then decided the matter to be settled on merit in due course, while posting the next hearing on February 5. The petitioner said her husband brought her back to India without her consent, while an American court had ordered the couple to live separately.
