: Twenty six new parking stands for aircraft have been commissioned at the Rajiv Gandhi International airport here, enhancing handling capacity by 45 per cent, the GMR group said Wednesday.
With the addition of these stands, spread over 65,000 square meters, the airport now has 83 parking stands, up from the earlier 57 (47 remote and 10 aerobridges), a release said.
"With the phenomenal growth in passenger and cargo throughput, as well as aircraft movements, and the resulting fleet expansions there is a rising demand for aircraft parking stands by airlines.
Our expansion plan has proactively accommodated all these conditions to ensure enhanced service quality and faster turnaround times," S G K Kishore, CEO of GMR Hyderabad Airports Ltd. (GHIAL), said.
GMR Hyderabad International Airport Limited (GHIAL) is the company that operates the city airport.
