Air India is offering its economy class passengers a chance to upgrade to business class by paying up to 75 percent less. The new scheme is based on a bid system where passengers booking an economy class ticket will bid for a business class upgrade. The flyers will be asked to pay extra, over and above their economy fare. If they get an upgrade, passengers will be given the premium category boarding card at the boarding gate otherwise the bidding amount will be refunded. However, flyers who opt for the scheme will not get lounge access and extra baggage allowance.
