Property owners in South Delhi Municipal Corporation’s jurisdiction, who pay their tax before March 31, will be exempt from payment of penalty and interest, a resolution passed to this effect in the Standing Committee on Tuesday said.
The amnesty scheme would apply to all category of property owners under all types of colonies. This includes all those who have not submitted tax returns from April 2004, those who have not filed returns on a regular basis and for those whose assessment hasn’t taken place, Standing Committee Chairperson Shikha Rai said in a statement.
The resolution introduced by Ms. Rai said that while property tax amnesty schemes were extended to residents of unauthorised colonies and in villages, similar incentives should be extended to those who pay property tax regularly so as to encourage continued filings
Financial difficulties
Leader of House Kamaljeet Sehrawat said that the scheme would benefit those who haven’t been able to make payments in the past due to financial difficulties.
