Lok Sabha on Tuesday passed a landmark bill reserving 10 per cent of government jobs for economically weaker section. India already has job and education quotas for SCs, STs and OBCs but this is for the first time a reservation is being proposed based on purely economic condition, where caste and religion would not be criteria.
