MADURAI
The Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court on Wednesday pulled up the Municipal Administration and Water Supply department for failing to construct the proposed bus stand in Karur, even after the court had issued directions to that effect.
A Division Bench of Justices K.K. Sasidharan and P.D. Audikesavalu directed the Principal Secretary Harmander Singh, who appeared before the court, to pass appropriate order on the proposed plan by January 10, failing which he would be summoned again.
The court was hearing the contempt petition filed by P. Saravanan of Karur who said the government was delaying in complying with the order of the court. The State had submitted that they were yet to zero in on a location for the proposed bus stand. The court had earlier, on a writ petition filed in 2017, directed the State to complete the bus stand work within two months.
