BENGALURU: The BJP has finally gone into poll mode for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections, with party national president Amit Shah calling for a meeting of all sitting Karnataka MLAs, MLCs and MPs on January 13.

According to party sources, Shah on Tuesday met BJP state president BS Yeddyurappa and party state convener for LS polls, Arvind Limbavali, to reiterate BJP’s Mission 22 (of the total 28 seats). The meeting also saw Shah asking Yeddyurappa and the party to concentrate on the upcoming elections and not get sidelined by issues like bringing down the coalition government in Karnataka.

“We have been asked to start the process of appointments to various election-related posts,” said Limbavali, adding: “On January 11 and 12, the national convention for LS polls will kickstart the process with over 12,000 people from across the country arriving in New Delhi. The next day, a meeting of all Karnataka legislators has been scheduled.”

The BJP core committee meeting is also likely to be held on the same day in New Delhi, ahead of Shah’s meeting with state leaders. Meanwhile, Shah is yet to confirm when he will visit Karnataka for the first LS poll rally. He was supposed to arrive for a rally on Wednesday (January 9) but had to cancel the plan due to the Rajya Sabha being extended by a day.
