AMBALA: The district police have taken into custody four union leaders of Sarv Karamchari Sangh (SKS) after they tried to interrupt Haryana Roadways bus services in Ambala. As per the information, some employees of Haryana Roadways remained on strike, following which the administration asked retired employees to run buses. This made the union leaders desperate and triggered their rage.
“We rounded up four persons, who were trying to obstruct the functioning of Haryana Roadways buses. We have also received a complaint from a driver of the roadways, who was assaulted. As of now, the persons would remain in police custody,” said station house officer of Baldev Nagar police station inspector Jaswant.
Employees are on strike on call of the trade union and some of the union leaders attempted to halt the bus operations.
The police were called, following which they took the custody of the leaders who were attempting to stop the buses. One of the retired bus driver has alleged the union leaders of assaulting him when he refused to come out of the bus.
“As per the order of the government, Essential Services Maintenance was enforced, and some workers started stopping buses. The police were called to help run the operations. Of 161 buses, only 144 are running,” said Ambala Haryana Roadways general manager Gagandeep Singh.
