A book on Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati, recounting his anointment as the 68th pontiff of Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam, was launched in the city on Tuesday.
The book titled ‘Embodiment of Truth – Kanchi Mahaswami (Volume 1)’ was launched on the 25th shradhanjali of the Pontiff of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam at Bharatiya Vidya Bhavan. The book is being published by The Hindu.
‘Most admired saint’
N. Ravi, Publisher of The Hindu, recalling the foreword from the book, said the Sage of Kanchi coming from the Adi Sankara lineage was one of the most admired and revered saints in the country.
Mr. Ravi said the saint called as Mahaperiyava was a firm believer in the Vedic dictum that truth is one and strongly advocated inter-religious solidarity.
Former Attorney General of India K. Parasaran launched the book which was received by Bhavan’s Vice-Chairman Nalli Kuppuswami Chetti.
The book was earlier blessed by Sankara Vijayendra Saraswati, the 70th Pontiff and present head of Sri Kanchi Kamakoti Peetam at a brief ceremony held at the Adishtanam of Sri Chandrasekharendra Saraswati in Kancheepuram. Copies of the book were presented to the Sankaracharya.
N.C. Sarabeswaran, Trustee, Veda Pata Nidhi Trust, also participated in the function.
