KITE to expand network of IT clubs in schools
TNN | Jan 9, 2019, 23:39 ISTThiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Infrastructure and Technology for Education (KITE)’s Little KITES project, which has become the largest student IT network in India, is all set for expansion.
KITES has invited applications from government and aided schools that currently have no Little KITES IT clubs. Schools can send applications before Tuesday. The Little KITES IT clubs has over 58,000 members in 1,898 schools.
Students, who want to be part of the IT clubs have to be submit applications to the headmaster and their selection would be based on their performance in an aptitude test, scheduled on 23rd January.
The test would be based on Class VIII IT textbook and general knowledge in IT sector. The students would have to secure at least 25% marks to get selected.
The student members would be given special training for at least four hours a month.
The scope of Little KITEs would include proper up-keeping of ICT (information communication technology) equipment in schools, computer literacy for parents, single-window help desk, special ICT training for differentially-abled, installation of free and open source software (FOSS) based operating system and applications for public, digital mapping, cyber safety check and awareness, updates in school Wiki, conduct of IT camps and development of news and documentaries for VICTERS educational channel.
