ICHCHAPURAM: YSR Congress chief Jagan Mohan Reddy unveiled an 88-feet tall pylon in Ichchapuram on Wednesday, marking the closing of his 'padayatra'.
He was received at the pylon site by party general secretary Talasila Raghuram. Later, party MP Vijaysai Reddy and others greeted the leader on the successful completion of his campaign.
Jagan started the last leg of his padayatra at Loddaputti habitation after the lunch break. The walk started at 2.50pm and reached the pylon site by 3.15pm.
Jagan along with his supporters poses for a photo in front of his 88-feet pylon.
The town hosts three pylons now, all three belonged to the YS family. The first pylon marks late YS Rajasekhar Reddy's Praja Prasthanam padayatra in 2003, followed by his daughter YS Sharmila's Maro Praja Prasthanam padayatra in 2012.
It was like a trial run of Jagan's swearing-in ceremony for the party activists and supporters, who thronged the small own in large numbers.
The police blocked the road leading to the town crossing the local Bahuda River. Jagan Reddy walked through the bridge across this river to reach the old bus stand centre where he addressed the concluding meeting of the 341-day long padayatra.
