Kochi metro was the favoured mode of public transport within the city on Wednesday, the second day of the general strike, as well.
As many as 31,576 commuters used the metro till 8 p.m. on Wednesday, which was just about the total ridership of 31,773 recorded by the mode of transport on Tuesday. Since the last week of December, there's been an increase in the number of daily commuters on metro, with some 50,000 commuters using the facility daily on regular days.
