Two men were arrested for allegedly posting lewd comments on a female colleague’s social networking page.
The woman had filed a complaint on December 20 against four men, including the HR manager, of a leading mobile-manufacturer company based in Ecotech 1 here.
The accused were identified as Suraj Bahuguna from Chamba district in Uttarakhand and Kishan Chand, from Mirzapur village in Ballabgarh district who worked in the IT team in the mobile company. They were held on Tuesday morning from the front gate of the company at Tech zone. The woman had accused the HR manager of not addressing her complaint of sexual harassment at the workplace.
The police said a case was registered against the four for alleged sexual harassment of the victim.
“Initial investigation revealed that Mr. Bahuguna had posted lewd comments on the victim’s social networking page while Mr. Chand had verbally abused the victim in the office. As a result they were arrested,” said Station House Officer (Ecotech 1) Farmood Ali Pundir.
He further added that the police have sent a written letter to the company enquiring about their Internal Complaints Committee (ICC) and its members in order to ascertain the roles of other accused in the case. “We have sought details of the employees who are in the ICC. We will conduct a separate inquiry with them in order to ascertain the role of other accused and their process of handling a complaint of sexual harassment,” Mr. Pundir added.
The accused were booked under different sections of the IT Act, IPC.
