Handloom products captivate buyers

Chronicle Reporter, Bhopal, The regional Saras Mela is being organized at Bhopal Haat premises from January 4 to 16 wherein shopaholics have an opportunity to explore new trend and new varieties of dress materials.

This annual mela is organised by State Panchayat and Rural Development Department and since the first day is receiving great response. There is an exquisite collection of dress materials, handloom products, jewellery, leather, food items, terracotta and much more. The self-employed artisans have participated in the mela. People are drawn towards handloom products.

It is to be noted that usually Saras Mela is organised each year, to promote the self- employed artisans. More than 35 Self Help Groups (SHGs) from across the country have participated in the regional saras mela.

SHGs artisans from different parts of the country have arrived in the mela to display and sale their products. Moreover, these artisans earn the profit of sale directly from the customers.

There is an array of colourful kurtis, suits in various handloom materials including Maheshwari and Chanderi. Moreover, the stoles which are in trend these days are also available in the same material. The most capturing part of the mela is the handbags made out of jute. Especially the college students are more captivated towards these traditional yet trendy handbags.

The beautifully embedded footwears are another centre of attraction for the female buyers. The home decoration items are yet another reason for the shopaholics to visit the Regional Saras Mela. There is an exquisite collection of dress materials, jewellery, leather, food items, terracotta and much more being exhibited by self help groups from across the country.

Usually Regional Saras Mela is organised each year, to promote the self- employed artisans living under poverty line. With the help of such opportunities offered by government they get a chance to display their products.
