A man was arrested after attacking students at a primary school in Beijing on Tuesday, according to a district government.
Twenty children were wounded and were taken to hospital, the Xicheng district government said in a post on its social media account.
Three of them suffered serious injuries but their condition was stable after the attack took place at the Beijing No. 1 Affiliated Elementary School of Xuanwu Normal School at around 11:17am local time, it said.

A clip of a meeting between school staff and parents circulated on social media, in which parents were told a 'school worker' had carried out the attack. Another video shows worried parents forming a large crowd outside the school's entrance, demanding details.
About six police cars were parked outside a hospital near the school, according to a Reuters witness.

The attack took place at the Beijing No. 1 Affiliated Elementary School of Xuanwu Normal School at around 11:17am local time on Tuesday. Police declined to comment on the incident

Violent crime is rare in China but there has been a series of knife and axe attacks in recent years, many targeting children.
In January 2017, a man in southern China stabbed 12 children with a vegetable knife to extract revenge for his life not going as he wanted and a dispute with a neighbour.
The man was executed this month.
