A group of youth from Assam on Monday staged protests, with some of the demonstrators stripping naked, outside Parliament against the Central government’s move to amend the Citizenship Amendment Bill.
Carrying placards and raising slogans, about 10 protesters belonging to the Krishak Mukti Sangram Samiti from Assam, stripped to protest the controversial Bill.
The police quickly swung into action and removed them from Vijay Chowk.
“The policemen present at Vijay Chowk nabbed the protesters. They were brought to the Parliament Street police station. After a few hours, they were told to leave,” said a senior officer.
Another group of people protested outside the Assam Bhavan in Chanakyapuri, with black flags.
