PUNE: A motorcyclist and an autorickshaw driver stole two jammers the traffic police had applied on their vehicles in Hinjewadi on Friday.
The Hinjewadi police have lodged two FIRs against the owners of the two vehicles.
On Friday afternoon, the police in the IT Park area spotted a bike parked in a ‘No Parking’ zone, obstructing traffic, near Infosys Circle. They applied a jammer on its wheel and wrote their phone number on its tank.
The police decided to check the bike late in the evening after not receiving any call. On visiting the spot, they found the motorcycle and the jammer, worth Rs2,000, were missing.
Later in the evening, the traffic police caught an autorickshaw driver for violating traffic rules on the Hinjewadi-Wakad road. As the driver refused to pay the fine, the vehicle was taken to the traffic division office and where a jammer was applied on its front wheel. Sometime during the intervening night of Friday and Saturday, the driver had replaced the front wheel of the autorickshaw and drove away with it and the jammer, worth Rs32,000.
The Hinjewadi police said that they have registration numbers of both the vehicles and the suspects would be arrested soon.
