Vehicles are becoming increasingly high-tech and Honda has embraced this trend by showing its Dream Drive technology at CES.

Billed as the “first integrated driver and passenger infotainment, commerce, services and rewards” system, Dream Drive technology goes far beyond traditional infotainment features.

The Driver aspect of the system is similar to GM’s Marketplace app. It enables users to make restaurant reservations, order movie tickets and pay for services such as parking or fuel without ever leaving their vehicle. As part of this effort, Honda has teamed up with a number of different companies including Atom Tickets, Chevron, Phillips 66, Grubhub and Parkopedia.

Since the Dream Drive system is voice and touch enabled, Honda says users can enjoy “convenient, safe and easy access to services.” The company has also expanded payment options to include PayPal and Mastercard, besides Visa.

The technology isn’t just focused on making the lives of drivers easier as Honda Dream Drive: Passenger allows people to play mixed reality games, watch movies, listen to music and read original comics on their mobile device. They can also look up points of interest along the route as well as control the radio and climate control system.

In order to ensure passengers have plenty of things to entertain them, Honda has partnered with AAA, Radio.com, Univision Music and the LEGO Group.

Interestingly, Honda is also testing out a points-based rewards program. The company didn’t go into a lot of details, but confirmed the trial rewards participants for engaging in activates such as purchasing services, playing games and watching or listening to certain media services. These points can then be redeemed at “favorite local and online retailers.”
