The Bharat Bandh impact: Social desecration reported in major states

New Delhi: The nationwide two day strike called on Tuesday, has impeded lives all around the country by inflicting a major setback to transportation and financial services.

Ten trade unions started their two day long general strike today against the Modi government’s ‘anti-labour policies’ affecting transportation, banking and other basic services in the entire nation.

The trade union is demanding for a minimum wage program and social security alongside other demands.

Soon after the strike, there have been reports of social barbarism and desecration in many parts of the country. The protest has hampered the day to day life of commoners.

Acts of ravaging have been reported in Bengaluru and Asansol. There are reports of malefactors pelting stones at a bus in Bengaluru.

West Bengal seems to be the most affected.

According to a police officer of West Bengal, some strike supporters allegedly forced shopkeepers to shut shops in Asansol, while some trespassers ravaged South Bengal State Transport Corporation.

There were also reports of a brawl between Trinamool Congress workers and the strike supporters as the party workers stopped them from thrusting the strike.

Effigies of PM Modi were burnt in various parts of Bengal as a sign of protest.

Power, steel, transportation, and financial services have come to a halt due to the nationwide protest of the trade workers.

In Odisha, road and railways suffered a major setback as the traffic on National Highway 16 stopped due to the protest.

The protesters didn’t allow trains to enter or leave the stations in Bhubaneswar. Schools and colleges will remain closed for 48 hours because of the protest.

In Mumbai, bus services were also affected due to the strike of Brihanmumbai Electricity Supply and Transport. There were also instances of stone pelting on buses last night in which 10 buses were damaged.

Transportation in Kerela is severely affected as most of the trains are running more than 90 minutes late.

Within hours of the Bharat Bandh, there has been a lot of social disturbance. The strike is expected to create more chaos in the next 24 hours.
