Through the activities of Snehatheeram, Sr Roselin shares the twin messages of compassion and empowerment, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said on Monday.

He was speaking after presenting the Humanitarian of the Year Award instituted by the charitable organisation Care and Share to Sr Roselin, founder and director, Snehatheeram.

Exemplary work

Sr Roselin was selected for the award for her work in rehabilitating destitute and mentally ill women. Through Snehatheeram, Sr Roselin conveys the message that mentally ill persons should not be driven out, but be considered a part of the society and held close, Mr Vijayan said.

Care and Share president Tony Devassia presided over the function.

Labour Minister T.P. Ramakrishnan, Forest Minister K. Raju, D.K. Murali, MLA, and former MP K.N. Balagopal spoke.
