Guv Anandiben Patel recalls Cong tagline 'Waqt Hai Badlav Ka’, stresses of fulfilling 'Vachan Patra’
Rajendra Sharma | TNN | Jan 8, 2019, 21:17 ISTBHOPAL: Madhya Pradesh Governor Anandiben Patel on Tuesday reiterated the tagline of Congress campaign during the assembly polls, 'Waqt Hai Badlav Ka' (It's time for a change) and said that the newly formed state government believed in the culture of "Work more and less Propaganda".
Addressing the first session of the 15th assembly of Madhya Pradesh, the Governor also announced to bring `Ma Narmada Trust Act' for the conservation of river Narmada and `General Category Commission' for the welfare of general class, a part of ruling Congress' strategy to woo Hindu voters.
"My government do not believe in announcements but in `less propaganda and more work' (meri sarkar ghoshnaon me nahi, prachar kam kaam jyada me vishwas karti hai)" said Governor Patel.
Reiterating the state government's commitment to fulfil promises made in the `Vachan Patra' (Congress manifesto), the Governor said the roadmap and blueprint of the government is the manifesto and it is determined to implement the same in the next five years.
"It is important to work more than talking about it (kahne se jyada jaroori kaam karna hai)", she stressed adding further, "I am confident that the new culture would justify the `Waqt hai Badlav Ka' (It's time for a change) theme in its functioning to take the state towards new dimensions for development".
Praising the voters' participation in large numbers in recently concluded assembly polls, she said an increase in voting percentage, especially the women voters indicated that democracy has turned stronger in the country. She also said that soon after assuming office, the Kamal Nath government took a slew of decisions like waiving loans of farmers and making provision for 70% employment to local youths in industries in the state.
"This is `government at the doorstep' and administration would be strengthened at the local level to make justice faster", she said. The Governor also expressed concern over the poor financial condition of the state and said that revenue loss in the last 6-7 years has increased.
"The budget has a more fiscal deficit than in last 10 years. In 2003-04, the total debt on the state was 34,672 crore which escalated to 1.87 lakh crore in 2018-19. The interest on loan also increased from 3,207 crores in 2003-04 to 12,867 crore in 2018-19", she said.
The Governor also stressed on the state government’s commitment on issues like roads, water, and power, farm loan waiver, weekly off to police staff, adequate prices to crops, urban and rural development and employment generation. BJP members boycotted the Governor's address.
