Two held with IMFL worth Rs 45L from Bhanvad

Rajkot: Two persons were arrested with Indian-made foreign liquor (IMFL) worth Rs 45.83lakh from Modhapar village of Bhanvad taluka in Devbhoomi Dwarka on Tuesday.

Based on specific information, the local crime branch (LCB) of Devbhoomi Dwarka stopped a truck coming from Uttar Pradesh near Modhapar village and on searching it found 6,719 bottles of 750ml and 18,960 bottles of 250ml IMFL.


LCB officials also arrested the truck driver Ramchandra Maheshdas from Hugli in West Bengal and Junagadh resident Kailash Bharai, who were also inside the truck.


Sub-inspector L D Odedara of LCB said that the liquor consignment was sent by one Om Prakash and Babaji of Uttar Pradesh and received by Bharai.


He added that that the IMFL was meant for local bootleggers Kanabhai Mori, Meru Kodiyatra and Kana Kodiyatra. Police also recovered two mobile phones from the truck driver and Bharai.
