Uber driver pleads guilty to Michigan shooting spree

NATS: COURTROOM Uber driver Jason Dalton pleaded guilty on Monday to killing six people and wounding two others in a Michigan shooting spree, while he was on the job.

NAT: guilty With jury selection already underway in his trial that was set to begin this week, the 48-year-old shocked the courtroom with his guilty plea.

NAT: You're doing this voluntarily of your own free will?

JASON DALTON Yes I've wanted this for quite a while Dalton was charged with 16 felony counts after going on a nearly five-hour killing rampage in Kalamazoo in February of 2016.

He pleaded guilty to all charges.

Police say he gunned down 8 people between Uber fares.

NAT: did you intend to kill?

Dalton had initially blamed Uber's ride-hailing app for compelling him to kill, telling investigators that it had the ability to take over his body.

Dalton's plea carries a life sentence in prison without the possibility of parole.
