DMK MLAs walk out of Assembly in protest against re-opening of Sterlite plant

Hours after the ordered re-opening of Vedanta's smelter plant at Thoothukudi, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) MLAs on Tuesday staged a walk-out from Assembly.

DMK MK told reporters: "We expected the to immediately convene a meeting of the Cabinet to take a firm policy decision on the matter."

Earlier in the day, the refused to stay the Green Tribunal's (NGT) order of setting aside government's decision to close the plant. government had approached the challenging the NGT.
