The breakout moment of The Bachelor's Season 23 premiere was a contestant named Bri talking to bachelor Colton Underwood in an Australian accent when she met him the first time, then revealing in an interview that the accent is fake but "you have to do what you can to stand out." It's very funny, and her accent, at least in the few seconds she's talking to Colton is convincing. She nails that "R" sound that Aussies add to "O" sounds.

But then the rest of the premiere didn't follow up on her deception! We were left to wonder if Bri kept talking in the Australian accent all night, trapping in her in a lie that would get harder and harder to extract herself from the longer it went on, or if she didn't talk to Colton at all and avoided having to reveal herself or if she did talk to him and their conversation just didn't make the final broadcast.

Well, we now know it's the latter. Entertainment Weekly has the deleted scene in which Bri reveals she was faking the accent. We see why it got cut, because it's kinda boring, but also c'mon, The Bachelor, you can't leave us hanging like that. That's starting to tell a story and then not telling the end because you got distracted by a DJ from Fort Lauderdale who kept interrupting people.

Despite her deception, Bri did get a rose, and she also made a special appearance during the live watch party segment of the premiere to get critiqued on her accent by a real Aussie and Kiwi, Courtney Dober and Lily McManus respectively from Bachelor Winter Games.

The Bachelor airs Mondays at 8/7c on ABC.
