Two men have been found murdered on Nangloi-Najafgarh Road in outer Delhi’s Ranhola on Sunday night, the police said on Monday.
They said that the men were shot dead and the bodies were found near the divider, adding that they were shot multiple times.
The deceased have been identified as Deepak Singwal (21) and his friend Neeraj (22).
“The bodies were spotted by a passer-by around 9 p.m. on Sunday. The police control room was then informed after which the police reached the spot. It appears that a vehicle was also used in the murder as pieces of a broken windshield have been found at the site. The case is under investigation,” said Seju P. Kuruvilla, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Outer).
‘Recent brawl’
They lived in Baprola village and Jai Vihar, both barely a kilometre away from the spot where their bodies were found. Deepak’s family has alleged that the victims had had a fight with a neighbour over car parking recently.
A police officer said that they are trying to find out if the murders were the fallout of some personal enmity. The police are probing the role of the neighbour, whose house was however, found locked on Monday.
Mr. Kuruvilla said that they are probing the matter from various angles. Deepak had one bullet in his body while Neeraj was shot four times.
“Deepak worked with an app-based cab company, while Neeraj was unemployed after having worked at a food joint. On the day of the incident, they left home around 7 p.m. They had said at home that they would have dinner outside and would come late,” said Mr. Kuruvilla.
“It seems that the men were shot somewhere else and their bodies were brought to the spot in a car and dumped,” said Mr. Kuruvilla.
The police are trying to identify the last person whom the deceased met on the day of the incident.
“An FIR under Section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code has been registered at Ranhola police station. The case is under investigation,” Mr. Kuruvilla further said.
