The newly elected Congress-led government in Madhya Pradesh does not believe in mere announcements but in working on the ground, Governor Anandiben Patel said Tuesday.
Soon after assuming office last month, the Kamal Nath government took a slew of decisions like waiving loans of farmers and making provision for 70 per cent employment to local youths in industries in the state, she said.
The governor was addressing the first session of the 15thassembly of Madhya Pradesh which was constituted after the November 28 polls.
Apparently taking potshots at the previous BJP government, Patel said, "My government does not believe in making announcements, but less propaganda and more work (meri sarkar ghoshnaon me nahi, prachar kam kaam jyada me vishwas karti hai)."
During the election campaign, the Congress had dubbed the then BJP Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan as a "ghoshnaveer" (a man of announcements).
She said after installation of the new government, Madhya Pradesh is at a cusp of change.
"The government thinks it is important to work more than talking about it (kahne se jyada jaroori kaam karna hai).
"Its time for change (waqt hai badlav ka) and this new culture will be reflected in the state's functioning and its progress," Patel stated.
"Waqt hai badlav ka" was the tagline of the Congress campaign during the assembly polls which saw the end of the 15-year-old BJP rule.
BJP legislators were not present in the House during the governors address.
They staged a walkout after pro-tem speaker Deepak Saxena did not allow the BJP to move its proposal to field its MLA Vijay Shah for the Speakers post and announced that Congress candidate N P Prajapati has been elected to the constitutional office.
In protest, the BJP boycotted the governors address.
Patel said her government started working rapidly soon after assuming charge and took decisions like farm loan waiver, formation of adhyatm (spiritual) department, raising grant to be given to girls for marriage, making provision of 70 per cent employment to local youths in industries and giving weekly offs to policemen, among others.
"The roadmap and blueprint of my government is its 'Vachan Patra' (manifesto) and it is determined to implement it earnestly in the next five years," she added.
