GREATER NOIDA: The Greater Noida Industrial Development Authority (GNIDA) officials levied a fine on two contractors for not doing their work properly on Monday. The move followed complaints from residents of Sector Omicron 2 in Greater Noida who raised problems related to the basic amenities they were facing in their community.
The residents complained about the leakage in water pipes, road repair, unmanaged drainage system, unkempt parks, non-functioning street lights and more to visiting GNIDA officials.
"Our sector has been facing numerous civic problems including the need for resurfacing of roads, repair of drains, redeployment of security guards (removed recently by GNIDA for lack of adequate requirement and funds) repair of water leaking pipe, choked sewers, removal of debris from roads, non-functional lights and swings in parks and their overall upkeep and more. Despite repeated complaints these have remained untended till now. On Monday officials from GNIDA visited our sector and penalised designated contractors for the job not done following our compliant,” said Satish Bhati, RWA president, Sector Omicron 2.
PK Kaushik, general manager (projects) GNIDA, who visited the sector with a team of senior managers, levied a fine of Rs3 lakh on contractor in-charge of civic job and Rs1 lakh on contractor in-charge of parks and their upkeep. “We will continue to monitor work of these contractors and if not found to satisfaction, we will further penalise them and take stringent action,” said Kaushik.
