The Delhi University Teachers’ Association (DUTA) has called for a two-day strike starting Tuesday, demanding release of pension, implementation of UGC regulations 2018 among other issues.
In a letter addressed to Delhi University Vice-Chancellor Yogesh Tyagi, the DUTA said, “The university administration under you has given up its will to defend the statutory bodies and university’s autonomy. Complete administrative paralysis has led to the collapse of normal functioning in the university…[DUTA] has called for a university shutdown of January 8 and 9 to express collective anger…”
Further, the letter read, “The DUTA demands that pending cases of promotions in colleges and university departments be processed with no further delay. The DUTA demands that you convene a meeting of the Academic Council immediately to table reports of the Regulations Committee and effect appropriate amendments to the relevant ordinances in order to implement the UGC Regulations, 2018.”
While on Tuesday the DUTA will protest outside the HRD Ministry demanding implementation of the Allowance and Pension Revision of the 7th Pay Revision, on Wednesday, the teachers’ body will be protesting at the V-C office.
