The High Court of Karnataka on Tuesday upheld that State government’s August 20, 2018 order of appointing an administrator to Rajya Vokkaligara Sangha.

Meanwhile, the court directed the government to appoint a high-ranking officer of the State to oversee the conduct of elections to the Sangha by the government-appointed administrator.

Justice B. Veerappa passed the order while dismissing petitions filed by the Sangha questioning the legality of the actions initiated by the State against the Sangha. The government appointed an administrator after finding that the Sangha had not submitted audited accounts to the Registrar of Societies as per the law from past couple of years and thus, had violated provisions of the Karnataka Societies Registration Act and the bylaw of the sangha.
