It’s a faithful account of my father’s journey: Balayya

Actor-turned-politician Nandamuri Balakrishna on Monday announced that shooting of part two of NTR biopic — Mahanayakudu — was nearing completion and all was set for release on February 7.

Mr. Balakrishna accompanied by Vidya Balan, who plays the role of NTR’s wife Basavatarakam, and Kalyan Ram, son of Harikrishna, on Monday visited the village.

Release tomorrow

The part one will hit the silver screen on January 9, marking the day when NTR had taken oath as Chief Minister in 1983.

The film crew, including Deputy Speaker M. Buddha Prasad, offered floral tributes at the statues of NTR and Basavatarakam here, praying for its success.

“We had to change the venue of the audio release function from Nimmakuru to Hyderabad due to Cyclone Phethai. However, we were particular about spending a day here today, seeking blessings from the villagers, family members and others,” said Mr. Balakrishna.

“At least ten days of shooting of the part 2 will be completed soon, mostly in the village,” he said.

“The part 1 does not speak of any party (political) or section of people. It portrays the journey of my father from a common villager to a great hero and the role played by my mother in his success,” said Mr. Balakrishna, who played his father’s role.

Vidya Balan thrilled

“The part 1 also celebrates the themes aimed at women empowerment in other NTR movies such as Varakatnam and Thalla-Pellama. Vidya Balan has put up a sterling performance, ” he added.

“I’m extremely happy to play the key role. I seek blessings from NTR to register success in my first Telugu movie,” said Ms. Vidya Balan.

Mr. Balakrishna later interacted with the villagers.
