TOKYO—Carlos Ghosn’s lawyer took aim at Japanese prosecutors Tuesday, arguing that they rushed to judgment and had no basis for their lengthy detention of the auto executive.
“As the defense team, we believe there is no evidence of a crime,” said Mr. Ghosn’s lead defense attorney, Motonari Otsuru, at a news conference following Mr. Ghosn’s first statement in public since his arrest Nov. 19, during a Tuesday court appearance.
